This week, police arrested two men in relation to a burglary at a restaurant on South Church Street on 12 May, and another man in relation to a criminal damage / burglary incident at a restaurant on North Church Street on 22 May. One of the men was also additionally arrested for another burglary incident in late April, at another restaurant along South Church Street.
One of the men, a 48-year-old from North Side, was formally charged with Burglary and appeared in court yesterday, 23 May, where he was remanded into custody pending a further appearance. The second man, age 50 of Bodden Town, has also been formally charged with Burglary and is expected to appear in court today, 24 May.
The third man, age 35 of George Town, remains in custody as investigations continue. All three men are all also individually suspected of other incidents of theft which have taken place during the past several weeks.
“All three of these men are recidivist offenders, affected by drugs & alcohol, who have previously been arrested and convicted for burglary, theft, and related offenses,” says Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown. “These latest incidents have once again impacted businesses in the area, and will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible, as part of our mission to keep the Cayman Islands safe.”
