The RCIPS has received information that video footage and photos taken from the scene of the fatal MVA that occurred on Sunday 3 April, resulting in the death of a father and his infant daughter are being shared on a number of social media platforms and via digital messaging services.

The police, who are working with the family of the deceased, ask that the public and media sources consider the impact that sharing this content has on the family and friends of the deceased, and to immediately desist from sharing the content. 

“The RCIPS have been noticing a disturbing increase in the posting and sharing of inappropriate, offensive and disturbing content across social media platforms”, says Ag. Superintendent Brad Ebanks.  “This culture of racing to see who can share the most shocking content first, demonstrates not only a lack of foresight, but a complete disregard for the substantial impact this has on families who are already dealing with immense suffering and often life altering circumstances.  We are a small community, no one is naive enough to believe the content shared is not going to get back to the affected families.  Stop and think before you post. In situations like these, one should be thinking of what you can do to help.”
