Cayman: Show your support for the annual Earth Day Cleanup on April 27

People of all ages are invited to participate in this year’s Chamber of Commerce Earth Day cleanup which takes place on Saturday, 27th April. Registration is free and businesses, community groups, and schools are encouraged to organise teams and select a location for the cleanup.

The cleanup is the biggest volunteer-driven cleanup event in the Cayman Islands, attracting more than 2000 volunteers every year, who gather at each location early in the morning to begin cleaning up our beaches, parks, and roadsides to ensure the Cayman Islands are kept beautiful for residents and tourists alike.

‘’Keeping our islands clean and green is everyone’s responsibility,’ says Chamber CEO Wil Pineau. ‘’We are encouraging all residents who care about the environment and want to make a difference in their communities to take a few hours of their time to remove litter from our streets and communities.”

The two main ways people participate are by registering teams, or by becoming sponsors. The Chamber encourages members, businesses, organisations and individuals to register their teams here: https://web.caymanchamber.ky/events/Earth-Day-Clean-up-2024-Team-Registration-27-April-2024-5258/details

Sponsors are vital because they supply all our equipment including trash bags, gloves, T-shirts, and refreshments. This year’s theme, carried on all the T-shirts is “Planet vs. Plastic” and focuses on the danger, especially to marine wildlife, of plastic items that find their way into our seas and oceans.

The registration for sponsorship is available here: https://web.caymanchamber.ky/events/Earth-Day-2024-Sponsorship-27-April-2024-5257/details
