After competing in various events at the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championships in Kingston, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands Squash team is back on island, boasting a glittering array of successes and one Caribbean Championship title.

During the tournament in Kingston, the team participated in events ranging from U-13, all the way up to U-19, the tournament’s oldest category. With both boys and girls participating, the team took part in single matches, as well as in group games. Head coach, Glenn Stark, and team manager, his wife Amanda Stark, are both extremely proud of the progress.

“We are very happy with the results, as many members are well below the U-19 cut off point. It’s a great achievement to do so well with such a youthful group, and we believe that we will see much more from them in the future,” Stark comments.

The big win of the week came in the U-15 singles competition, in which Julian Jervis managed to overpower his opponents. Jervis ended with a 3-2 win against Jason Doyle of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in the final, and earned himself the title of U-15 Caribbean Junior Squash Champion.

Other triumphs included Daniel Murphy who lost only one match, and earned a 5^th place in the U-17 competition. Eilidh Bridgeman and Kristina Myren earned 3^rd and 4^th place respectively in the girls U-19 competition. Overall the team finished 6^th in the boys’ tournament and 7^th in the girls’. 10 countries competed in total, with the OECS consisting of four individual countries represented as one.
