Cayman: Two arrested on suspicion of drug offenses

Shortly after 11:00PM on Wednesday, 9 December, officers on patrol in West Bay came upon a vehicle parked in the vicinity of the West Bay Public Beach. When officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the occupants, they detected the strong scent of ganja. As such, a search of the vehicle was conducted under the Misuse of Drugs Law. During the search, officers recovered packets of suspected ganja, several packets of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and two knives. A man, age 25 of West Bay, and a woman, age 42 of George Town, were both arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply. The woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Both were subsequently granted bail as investigations continue.
