Cayman: Two men arrested in relation to theft incidents

Yesterday, 23 August, officers arrested a man, age 29 of George Town on suspicion of going equipped to steal and drug offenses. He has been bailed as investigations continue.
This morning, 24 August, officers arrested another man, age 46 of West Bay who was reported to have been seen entering private property and attempting to open vehicle doors, on suspicion of criminal trespass and attempted theft. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
“We continue to conduct targeted proactive patrols in key areas in response to the recent increase in reports of thefts from vehicles, in order to deter such activities and apprehend those responsible,” says Inspector Ian Yearwood. “Even though these arrests have been made, we are still encouraging the public to take the necessary precautions and remove any valuables from their vehicles where possible, or otherwise secure them properly.”
The RCIPS encourages anyone who is the victim of such an incident, or who witnesses any suspicious activity that may be related, to contact their district police station.
