Cayman – Update: George Town man charged with firearm related offenses

Update (28 April):
A 42-year-old-man of George Town has been charged in relation to a firearm incident that took place on 25 April (see press release below).

The man has been formally charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition) and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm with intent to Commit an Offense, namely Causing Fear and Provocation of Violence.

The man appeared in court today, Wednesday, 28 April, and was remanded.

Initial Release (26 April):
Shortly after 9:00PM on Sunday, 25Â April, officers of the Firearms Response Unit, on patrol in George Town, had cause to approach a man who was behaving suspiciously, at an address on Anthony Drive. The officers detained the man, conducted a search of his person, and recovered a loaded black handgun and several rounds of ammunition. The man, age 42 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and taken into custody. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
