Cayman – UPDATE: Man arrested on suspicion of Murder in relation to West Bay Stabbing

Update (22 November):
On Sunday, 20 November, a second man, age 53 of Bodden Town, was arrested on suspicion of Murder in relation to the fatal stabbing of George Ian Duffell, which occurred in West Bay on 14 October.
The man, who was also arrested in relation to outstanding warrants, remains in custody on these matters as investigations continue.
Update (17 October):
Police can now confirm the identity of the deceased in the stabbing incident which occurred on Friday, 14 October on Birch Tree Hill Road in West Bay. He is George Ian Duffell, age 51 of West Bay.
The RCIPS expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
One man, age 42 of West Bay, was arrested on Saturday, 15 October, on suspicion of murder, in relation to the incident. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Initial Release (15 October):
Shortly before 11:00PM yesterday, 14 October, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a stabbing incident at an address on Birch Tree Hill Road, in the vicinity of Captains Joe and Osbert Road. It was reported that a man had been stabbed during an altercation. The culprit(s) left the location prior to the arrival of police. Emergency services attended the location and the man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead.
The deceased is a 51-year-old man of West Bay.
The matter is currently under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact West Bay CID at 949-3999.
