Cayman Update: Oil Tanker – Sea Elephant
The Cayman Islands Government, through the Acting Deputy Governor Gloria McField-Nixon has confirmed that the oil tanker, MT Sea Elephant, is now at Jackson Point Terminal to offload its fuel products. The ship will subsequently be anchored at Anchorage #3 in the George Town port area, where it will undergo inspection prior to its anticipated departure from the jurisdiction.
The public may expect to see the vessel in our port area over the next several days.
OfReg has been monitoring the matter closely, and in particular the availability of fuel stocks, and confirms that there are no concerns regarding fuel supplies within the Cayman Islands.
Investigations continue by the Department of Environment, Coast Guard, Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands and other Government agencies, into the incident involving the Sea Elephant which occurred in Cayman Brac on Saturday, 6 July.”
