Cayman: Update: Two Men Charged Following Recovery of Drug Canoe

The men, age 25 of Jamaica, and 39 of Bodden Town, who were arrested in relation to the below incident, have been formally charged with Importation of Ganja and Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. The 25-year-old has also been charged with Illegal Landing.
They are appearing in court today, 2 July.
Attached is a photo of the recovered parcels, which police can now disclose have a total weight of over 550lbs
June 28 2018
Just after 12:00AM this morning, Friday, 28 June, officers on patrol noted suspicious activity onshore in Prospect Point. Two men were observed in the vicinity of a beached white canoe with several bags scattered onshore. The men were detained and a search of the area was conducted, during which several parcels containing what appeared to be ganja were found.
Other officers responding to the area noted a suspicious vehicle nearby and stopped the driver. Further enquiries led to all three men being arrested on suspicion of importation of ganja. Two of the men, ages 37 and 39, are from Bodden Town, and a third man, age 25, is from Jamaica. The Jamaican national was also arrested for Illegal Landing.
All men are currently in Police custody while enquiries continue.
