Cayman: Use of counterfeit notes reported to the FCIU
From RCIPS
The RCIPS Financial Crimes Investigations Unit, have received three separate reports of counterfeit notes being circulated. These notes have been in the form of the US Dollars and with the $100 bills as well as other smaller denominations. These reports make up just about four (4) reports of uttering false bank notes that the police have received this year.
Financial crime investigators are asking the public to be vigilant when exchanging money and compare the notes that they receive with ones that they already have. If you believe that you have been given a false note, please do not attempt to spend the note, but instead report the matter to the police and turn the note over to the police. Knowingly uttering a false note is an offense in the Cayman Islands.
