Cayman: Weather Radio Service Restored for Sister Islands

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) has announced that operations for the Cayman Brac weather radio have been fully restored, reinstating the essential service for residents of both Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
The weather radio service, which broadcasts on 107.9 FM experienced disruption to its airwaves in Cayman Brac due to a faulty transmitter. CINWS and Radio Cayman technicians have successfully replaced the damaged equipment with a new transmitter. To prevent similar extended outages in the future, a spare unit has also been installed on site, ensuring continuity of the vital service.
The service is designed to disseminate not only regular weather forecasts but also alerts issued by the Cayman Islands National Weather Service, serving as a crucial communication channel during severe weather events.
