UPDATE: CIFS Bring Windsor Park Brush Fire Under Control

CAYMAN ISLANDS (GIS) – The Cayman Islands Fire Service has brought a brush fire in the Windsor Park area under control and to a near conclusion. Crews will remain on the scene until it is deemed there is no further risk to the surrounding area.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service’s X-Ray One helicopter will return to the scene for an additional aerial risk assessment this evening.
Light smoke is still present in the area. Residents are reminded to keep doors and windows closed and to monitor air conditioning units for smoke intake.
CIFS Respond to Windsor Park Brush Fire
CAYMAN ISLANDS (GIS) – The Cayman Islands Fire Service were called to a fire on a large parcel of land in the Windsor Park area this afternoon, Friday, 12 March. Crews remain on scene and are deploying defensive firefighting tactics to ensure the surrounding structures are protected.
A large amount of smoke is emanating from the scene and there have been some reports of falling embers. All residents are asked to avoid the area if possible while the incident is being resolved.
Residents in the vicinity of the scene should stay indoors as much as possible with doors and windows closed and should monitor air conditioning units for smoke intake.
