Cayman: Work on Colliers Dock to be completed early April
Issued by: Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure
Grand Cayman – Members of the Public Works Department are currently undertaking repairs to the Colliers Dock in East End, with work scheduled to be completed next month.
The Colliers Dock sustained damage during Tropical Storm Grace. Structural assessments indicated several deficiencies including destruction of the trex deck, removal of some of the stock piles from the foundation and damaged cross bracing to split pile caps.
Director of the Public Works Department Troy Whorms expressed that his team are working closely with other agencies to ensure adherence to environmental regulations while repairs are underway.
Last year, the Department conducted minor repairs to four docks across Grand Cayman to include Gun Bay, Coe-Wood Beach, Heritage Park and Lobster Pot.
