Has someone else’s story ever helped you through a difficult moment in your life?

Have you had to make a difficult decision and spoke your truth, even when that truth was met with criticism or rejection?The “I Speak” project is a collaborative initiative to create a book that captures the moment when a person finds the courage to speak up for their values, choices, or decisions.  Our goal is to inspire resilience, courage, connection, and strength via the sharing of life experiences in a short story or poem.The book will be published in 2022, capturing this unique moment in time. Contributors will not be paid for their submissions.  The proceeds from sales will be donated (TBA).  

Sharing your experience

Consider these steps as you share your story:

• Describe the decision you had to make. This can include a current decision, or a decision made previously that had a life altering effect.

• How did you speak your truth?

• What happened next and how did it influence you?

• What did you learn?

• How can your story help others?

All submissions must be received by March 31, 2022 to be considered for inclusion in the book.Send your poem or story in MS Word as an attachment to [email protected] Please, be concise and tell your story in no more than 1000 words.Have questions?Contact [email protected]

How will my writing be used?-Once submitted, your writing will be considered for the “I Speak” collection of poems and stories. Notifications and updates will be sent via email.  Will I be paid for my submission? -No, please note that a portion of the profits from the project will be donated to a specific charity TBAWho owns the copyright? -You own the copyright to your submission. May I use my writing on my own blog or other publication?  -Yes, we only ask that you not publish on any other publication until after July 1, 2022 Will my writing be altered? -Yes, it will be lightly edited for grammar and style while respecting all the ideas in your work.Who will approve my writing before publication? -Our team of professional editors and proof-readers will ensure your story sparklesWill I receive a copy of the publication? -Yes, you will receive one copy of the book as a gift. How will this book be launched or shared with the public?-This is currently being explored. We are looking at Amazon and social media. You will be notified with updates.
