Caymanian Shane Westin graduates with B.A., J.D.
Caymanian Shane Finlay Westin, eldest son of Loretta and Peter Westin, of George Town, Grand Cayman graduated on Thursday, May 17th from the University of New Brunswick during their One Hundred and Eighty-third Encaenia, earning a Bachelor of Law/Juris Doctor with Distinction.
Shane received awards and scholarships as the top Law student during his first two years at the U.N.B. Law School. At graduation he was presented with the following awards: recognition for graduating with Distinction in his J.D., the Law Faculty Council Prize for Highest Standing in Third Year Law, and the Lieutenant-Governor’s Silver Medal as the top Law student during the course of the 3 year degree programme.
Shane also received the McInnes Cooper Prize in Trial Practice; the New Brunswick Trial Lawyers’ Association Prize in Trial Practice; the McInnes Cooper Prize in Corporate Law & Taxation; and the Lyman Purnell Prize in Wills and Estates.
Shane and his wife Rebecca recently welcomed the birth of son William, brother to daughters Maria and Felicity. Shane is articling with the Law Firm of Cox and Palmer in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
