Cayman’s ‘Seniors Rock’ Dress Down Day Returns Fri 25 Oct

Meals on Wheels (MOW) is excited to announce that the annual Seniors Rock Dress Down Daywill now take place on Friday, 25 October 2024. This highly anticipated event invites schools, businesses, and individuals across the Cayman Islands to join in supporting the elderly by purchasing a Seniors Rock 2024 t-shirt for $25 and dressing down for a great cause.

This annual event is proudly sponsored by Butterfield Bank, a key partner in the fight to end senior hunger. All proceeds from t-shirt sales will go directly to providing more than 350 hot, nutritious meals daily to seniors and vulnerable residents across Grand Cayman.

“With the rising cost of living and food prices, we face increased challenges in meeting both operational and capital funding needs. Fundraisers like Seniors Rock are vital in ensuring that we can continue serving our seniors daily, said Ms. Jennifer West, MOW General Manager.

Ms. West went on to highlight the ongoing need for community support adding, “We are also actively raising funds for a permanent Meals on Wheels facility to better serve the community, so we are imploring everyone who can, to get involved and support us so we can continue to serve the growing number of elderly people who are in need.”

This year’s t-shirts feature a fresh, vibrant design, created by the Butterfield marketing team. This new design features an elderly man playing the drums, and coloured panels, making dressing down in 2024 a fun and stylish way to show your support. Each purchase helps ensure that Cayman’s elderly receive the daily meals they depend on.

“Butterfield’s sponsorship reflects the Bank’s commitment to making a positive difference in the Cayman community. Rory Mann, Vice President, Cayman Marketing & Communications at Butterfield spoke on the importance of corporate responsibility, saying, “At Butterfield, we believe in giving back to the community and supporting those most in need. Seniors Rock is a fantastic initiative that makes a direct impact on the lives of our older persons, and we are proud to continue our sponsorship. We encourage other businesses to join us by allowing employees to dress down and rock orange to support Meals on Wheels and our seniors.”

To participate, businesses, schools or individuals can contact Meals on Wheels at 769-1974 or by emailing [email protected] or download the registration form at www.mealsonwheels.ky/ . T-shirts can be ordered and collected at the Meals on Wheels Administrative Office, Unit C4, 2nd Floor, Trafalgar Place, West Bay Road. Corporate groups who order and purchase 20 or more t-shirts will be invited to an exclusive Seniors Rock Happy Hour appreciation where shirts will be ready for collection while enjoying nibbles and drinks with like-minded community partners and Meals on Wheels Board Directors.

While supplies are limited and are on a first come first serve basis, the deadline for placing orders is Monday 21st October (or until the merchandise is sold out, whichever comes first).

Can’t Participate on the Day? You can still make a difference! Pledge to feed a senior by donating as little as $7 through the www.pledgeasenior.com website or sign up for the NO4 November fundraising Turkey Trot 5K online at www.mealsonwheels.ky . All support will help the charity continue providing essential services to those who need it most.
