Cayman Enterprise City (CEC), the Cayman Islands’ knowledge-based special economic zone, announced this week a channel partnership with Nadege Parent, a Vancouver marketing professional who brings to the post knowledge of special economic zones in both Slovakia and Dubai. As CEC territory ambassador, Nadege will reach out to technology, media and mining companies in the vital Western Canada market where those thriving industries are supported by a Canadian government that encourages entrepreneurship. To facilitate North American companies in expanding globally, the forward-thinking Cayman Islands government paved the way for the development of The Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone and granted appealing zone concessions designed to attract international companies from five high-tech sectors; internet and technology, media and marketing, biotechnology & life sciences, commodities and derivatives, and academia.

“We are delighted to have such an experienced marketeer on-board promoting Cayman’s business friendly jurisdiction and Cayman Enterprise City in Canada’s Western provinces,” said Hilary McKenzie-Cahill, Vice President of Marketing for Cayman Enterprise City. “Nadege’s experience and contacts within the key markets of Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary will be invaluable and we look forward to working with her in communicating CEC’s benefits to these markets.”

“How exciting to be partnering with a team that offers companies the possibility to become more competitive in the global marketplace,” said Parent. “CEC is providing a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs trying to start an innovative business as well as offering already established companies the chance to set up an international office in Cayman to expand into lucrative new markets such as the US and Latin America”.

CEC clients take advantage of Cayman’s tax-neutral environment while operating from a special economic zone that meets OECD best practice guidelines. An offshore presence enables international companies to be more competitive in the global marketplace and businesses also enjoy 100% exemption from corporate, capital gains and sales taxes. Cayman Enterprise City also offers other benefits such as housing your intellectual property offshore, no visa restrictions and more.

A marketing professional for the past 10 years, Nadege Parent is experienced in a wide range of industries, including real estate. She served as the lead digital strategist and marketing head for the Charlwood Pacific Group Real Estate division, which includes CENTURY 21, CENTUM Financial Group and Real Canadian Property Management. Her contacts will give Cayman Enterprise City a solid intro to the region. Thus far Cayman Enterprise City has enjoyed good response from Canadian media, tech and mining companies. Parent expects a lot of interest in the zone’s burgeoning creative community and she plans to tout its innovative environment and cross marketing opportunities.

“Canada’s government encourages entrepreneurship and international relationships and the Tax Information Exchange Agreement (“TIEA”) Canada signed with the Cayman Islands Government, now makes the CEC zone a particularly appealing base for Canadian companies wishing to win clients and expand into lucrative overseas markets,” commented Parent. “Canadian companies can earn tax exempt revenues from an active business income in Cayman and repatriate profits back to the Canadian mother company tax-free, as exempt surplus dividend under the terms of the TIEA.” “As CEC’s Ambassador in Western Canada, I aim to provide companies with complete and detailed information on the new special economic zone, so that they can see the true financial benefits for their organization and ultimately make a well informed decision.”

Nadege Parent has earned a BA in Professional Communications from Royal Roads University and studied Civil Law at Ottawa University. She has vacationed in the Cayman Islands, and knows from experience the lifestyle available in these islands, where a thriving community of approximately 1,800 Canadian expats always welcomes newcomers from back home. Grand Cayman has a warm climate year round, is home to the world famous Seven Mile Beach and offers incredible scuba diving. The cosmopolitan lifestyle includes excellent restaurants, schools, medical facilities, entertainment options and sporting activities including active hockey leagues. Forbes Magazine recently named the Cayman Islands ‘The friendliest Place on earth to live and work’, and Nadege Parent is looking forward to getting the word out.

There are now close to 100 companies in the special economic zone and clients are currently operating from four interim zone buildings, including the newly acquired CEC City Centre on the waterfront in the capital George Town. It is expected that ground breaking on a new state of the art permanent campus will take place early in 2014, and it is estimated clients will be moving into phase one 18 months to 2 years after that.
