Camana Bay Aquatic Club (CBAC) rounded out its 12th year with a win at the 2022 Coconut Cup held at the Camana Bay pool 2-4 December.

Following three days of competition at the annual swim meet, CBAC announced that 17 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships qualifying times were achieved at the meet.

Grant Ferguson, CBAC Head Coach said fantastic results from swimmers would no doubt boost their confidence as they head further into the competitive swim season.

“With the upcoming Christmas Open swim meet in Jamaica from 17th-21st of December, and Cayman National Swimming Championships on the horizon in February 2023, CBAC is looking forward to solid, consistent, and fast swimming,” Coach Ferguson said.

CBAC entered a total of 113 amateur swimmers and finished the 2022 Coconut Cup with overall points of 6,569 to claim first place. Seven Mile Swimmers placed 2nd with 2,757 points, and Stingray Swim Club 3rd with 1,841 points.

Camana Bay Aquatic Club recently celebrated its 12-year anniversary and took the opportunity to thank the Dart Group for its continued support at a presentation at the Camana Bay pool.

“It is a great achievement for our club and a credit to our past and present members, committee members, coaches, officials, team managers and all the volunteers whose passion and commitment has driven our success,” Mr Denis Corin, Chairman, Camana Bay Aquatic Club said.

“We thank all of those who lead the charge in the beginning, with Katie Lambert, the Dart team in Jeff Wight, Dom Ross, the staff at the Camana Bay Sports complex along the way, the first coaches, and all that have followed,” he said. “I hope that everyone who has been involved over the past 12 years can take the opportunity to reflect on their time and contribution and enjoy sharing memories and achievements.”

The club’s membership has grown to over 300 members and the club offers learn-to-swim classes, competitive swim and artistic teams, a masters program and open water swimming.

“We are proud of our club and the impact it has had on the now thousands of kids who have passed through the gates onto the deck, into the water and beyond. It’s amazing to see many of them competing at the highest levels around the globe in both swimming and artistic swimming and living their best lives in and out of the water,” Corin said.

Coach Ferguson said he attributes the club’s success to the supportive family environment and enduring community foundations.

“As a parent-run organization now, we are grateful to those who so generously give their time and talents to the running of the club,” he said.

“CBAC is a wonderful community. It has filled me with pride to observe the rapid growth of the club and the prominent position the club has assumed.”
