New Art Forms: Film, Video and Time Based Media with Jamie Hahn
Saturday, 20 June 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The lecture will explore how the new art forms in time-based media intersect with culture. In an image saturated society with speed and feedback from electronic media a seeming necessity, how do we communicate ideas in new ways? How can time be used as a formal element in art? A brief history of film as cinema will be compared to the development of structural and experimental filmmakers. How has this history contributed to video art? We’ll look at how this has affected our expectations of the moving image. The lecture takes place in the Susan A. Olde Art Studio. CayFilm passes are required for this lecture. Visit the CayFilm website for details on how to purchase tickets.
