Seating is limited; advance registration is required. Virtual registrations also available.

everyone!

WHAT: World Ocean Day Reefs Go Live at the Camana Bay Cinema, Climate Change and our Ocean

WHEN: Friday, 6th June 2025; 10:00 am – 10:45 am (UTC -5h)

HOW: Free registration: https://donate.reefresearch.org/WOD25

The past few years have bought record-breaking climate extremes across the world, including the rising temperature of the oceans globally and here in Cayman. Coral reefs have often been referred to as the ‘canary in the coalmine,’ the ecosystem at the forefront of these pressures. Join CCMI to understand how recent marine heatwaves have impacted the reefs of Little Cayman.

We will also dive into the ocean’s unique ability to absorb carbon dioxide, regulate weather and planetary health, help to mitigate the impacts of climate change, and how CCMI is working towards supporting this climate mitigation in Cayman.

CCMI offers this opportunity to take a virtual dive with our team of scientists and educators as we explore Little Cayman’s coral reefs on World Ocean Day. This event is **FREE** and open to everyone. School groups, especially years 4 and 5, are encouraged to participate.

Guests will also be encouraged to take part in the DearTomorrow campaign and craft personal letters to their families, communities, or future selves about climate change.

About Reefs Go Live

CCMI’s Reefs Go Live series has transported Cayman’s coral reefs into classrooms since 2018, educating students around the world about marine ecosystems, conservation, and the importance of protecting the ocean. This final episode marks a culmination of the series and highlights how local reefs are changing — and what every person can do to help ensure a sustainable future for coral reefs.

About CCMI:
