In this edition of Capacité+, we are pleased to share stories of resilience, innovation and dedication to conservation from passionate individuals and organisations working in the region — from Antigua and Barbuda to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. We also introduce two online platforms launched by the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration for a more resilient and sustainable Caribbean region. Last but not least, we pay tribute to the legacy of José Delio Guzmán, who championed conservation in the Dominican Republic for over three decades and who passed away at the start of 2024. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories, updates and opportunities to engage with conservation efforts across the hotspot. We hope that you enjoy reading Capacité+! |

ohnella Bradshaw’s and Shanna Challenger’s journey from childhood aspirations of being doctors to becoming conservationists underscores the importance of nurturing environmental passion from an early age. Now leading conservation efforts in their home country of Antigua and Barbuda, Johnella and Shanna aim to inspire the next generation of local conservationists, including through their work under the CEPF-funded project “Accelerating Locally Led Conservation Action in Antigua and Barbuda”, which the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) is implementing between May 2023 and April 2026. |
