The first round of the Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup 2016 starts today, Tuesday, March 22, with Cuba at home against Bermuda, Grenada hosting St. Maarten and Anguilla travelling to Guyana.
For the first round of the regional championship, the national teams are sorted into seven groups. Each team will host one match and play another on the road. Rounds 2 and 3 will begin in June and October, respectively, of this year. The final round is scheduled to be played in May 2017, with a host to be named by the CFU in coming months.
Scotiabank, title sponsor of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League and other CONCACAF championships, will once again support sport throughout the Caribbean region through the title sponsorship for this year’s editions of the men’s Caribbean championship.
The Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup 2016 will qualify Caribbean teams directly to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Jamaica is the defending Champion after overcoming Trinidad & Tobago 4-3 on penalty kicks, after a scoreless draw in the 2014 CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Final.
