Change for Change Makes Difference

Post Event Press Release Change for Change Donation Drive 2024

Record Breaking event for Meals on Wheels

The annual Meals on Wheels Change for Change Donation Drive saw record breaking numbers for its 2024 fundraising event with over 300 volunteers who were mobilized across Grand Cayman on January 26th and 27th, at shops, organizations, businesses and banks across Grand Cayman. The community supported in full force to volunteer and give to the charity which raised over $60,196.05 that will be used to provide daily hot meals to seniors, disabled, homebound and infirm persons across all 5 districts of Grand Cayman.

Meals on Wheels works hard to raise the funds needed each month to continue to provide meals free of charge to 350 clients in need. The organization relies on over 130 volunteers weekly to deliver the meals to seniors at their homes.

Jennifer West, Meals on Wheels General Manager said “We rely on the community to support our daily meal delivery programs and this year’s fundraiser was no different! We had volunteers from age 2 to 82 who represented service clubs, churches, corporations, small businesses, civil servants, schools and more. The unbelievable success reflects the ever-increasing dedication and enthusiasm that our community displays on a continual basis. It is because of volunteers and generous donors that Meals on Wheels continues to serve our most vulnerable citizens, our seniors. Every penny counts and we are extremely grateful to everyone for opening your heart and emptying your pockets, coin jars, car trays and piggy banks for our worthy cause.”

There are some expenses incurred in putting on any event, and thanks to our sponsors at Davenport Development Ltd and., Radio Cayman who helped Meals on Wheels spread the word and cover event costs, every dollar that was raised goes straight to feeding seniors in need.

Meals on Wheels would like to thank the following locations who opened their stores including AA Rubis, A.L. Thompson’s, Book Nook, Butterfield, Camana Bay, Cayman National, Foster’s, Cayman National, Credit Union, Cost U Less, Hurley’s Marketplace, Kirk Home Centre, Kirk Market.

We would not have been able to have such a successful event without our volunteers including civic minded companies, schools and organizations who encouraged their staff to get involved:
