Child Month 0pens with stories and hunts

Child Month festivities kicked off with Celebrity Reading Day sessions at all preschools on 1 May (Tuesday) followed by a Nutritional Scavenger Hunt on 5 May (Saturday).

Organised by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in keeping with this year’s theme Educate, Motivate and Advocate for All Children, the sessions aimed to instil a love for learning in students, and give them a chance to interact with volunteer readers and each other.

Premier, Hon. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP, as well as Minister of Community Affairs, Gender and Housing, Hon. Mike Adam, MBE, JP, were among local celebrities and participants from various government departments, service clubs and other private agencies.

Through May, DCFS encourages the public to engage the minds of our children through various educational activities.

The celebration continued with a Nutritional Scavenger Hunt on 5 May (Saturday) at Foster’s Food Fair where 17 families raced through aisles searching for clues and items

Participants also got a chance to learn about healthy eating alternatives and witness live cooking demos.
