Children of the Caribbean was founded on the premise that the lives of all children have equal value. An HIV positive child or an impoverished child, is just as precious as your children or mine.

Children of the Caribbean Inc.

Children of the Caribbean, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that offers relief and assistance to deserving children across the Caribbean. Founded on June 1, 2010, by Julien Adams and his wife Rosie Hodge-Adams, the Foundation delivers assistance in the areas of Education, Healthcare and Social Development. All of the Foundation’s efforts are geared to resolving the ongoing struggles that some children face every day – poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease – and to replace these struggles with hope for the future.

The projects that Children of the Caribbean, Inc. fund and facilitate are developed so that each child who benefits is able to reach their fullest potential for personal growth, and to realize their dreams in a healthy environment. To the extent that a child’s social needs are met, that child is likely to develop into a healthy, confident, responsible, productive, competent, independent and self-controlled adult.

Philosophy

Focusing on young children is by far the most brilliant investment that anyone could ever make in the future. Children of the Caribbean, Inc. was founded on the premise that the lives of all children have equal value. An impoverished child in Haiti or a homeless child in the parish of St. Ann, Jamaica is just as precious as the children in the United States of America and other developed countries. The Foundation’s goal is to ensure that all children have the opportunity to lead a healthy, productive life.

Our Approach

Children of the Caribbean, Inc. identifies worthy projects in the Caribbean that support our mission. We raise money and find the right people to support each project. We manage each project to a successful conclusion.

Role

The role of Children of the Caribbean, Inc. is to:

Identify the needs that fit the Foundation’s Criteria

Communicate those needs to potential donors

Raise the money to address those needs

Manage the money prudently

Allocate the funds

Work with the project directors to ensure effective use of funds and successful project execution

Account to our donors

Funding Criteria

The following are established criteria of Children of the Caribbean, Inc.:

Social Development

Funding needs are identified by in-depth consultation and by agreement with the agencies, institutions or organizations, and/or families directly involved with the children who are being benefitted.

Children of the Caribbean, Inc. only funds projects that are sustainable by local governments, the Foundation or the actual agencies, institutions or organizations, and/or families on an on-going basis.

All projects must be managed on the ground, by organizations that demonstrate:

High quality management

Sound progress and effectiveness monitoring

Accountability and the ability to provide comprehensive feedback

A track record of high quality donor relationship management

In every case, there must be an agree ratio for the application of our funds in terms of M&OS and project costs, tailored to the nature of the project

The Islands

Although the islands of the Caribbean are very similar, each island possesses a unique quality that manifests itself in the life of each child who lives there. Through each Caribbean child the image, identity and culture of his island is defined.

We are currently on Dominica doing a needs assessment and visiting with the Kalinago Tribe (The Caribs). We handed out cereal to the children and the elderly on the reserve.
