CIASA congratulates gold and silver medalists: Brett and Shaune Fraser Statement from Tom McCallum, President CIASA
With hearts full of pride and joy the Board of CIASA joins Cayman’s Swim Family and indeed our whole country in congratulating Shaune and Brett Fraser. These two brothers and indeed their whole family have committed so much, and for so many years, to the vision of achieving this level of success, they deserve all the praise that is now flooding in their direction. Their hard work, commitment, dedication and humility; along with the outstanding support of their family – Jim, Laurice and Kyle – is truly representative of the very best of Cayman!
At this time the focus is on these two remarkable young men, so we will not list the many that have supported them on their journey to this point. We will however mention Coach Dominic Ross who not only recalls the night’s achievement as the “newest, proudest swimming moment in his life” but who has also, along with his family (albeit indirectly), shown commitment and dedication to the sport of swimming. The list of hugely committed and passionate individuals and organisations in Cayman and beyond is lengthy. You know who you are, and you have the thanks of a grateful country and swimming community too.
Whilst we take a moment to celebrate, the focus will soon shift to a certain swim meet in London in 2012. All of the Cayman Swimming and sporting family will continue to support them in the year ahead as they journey to the Olympics.
We wish all athletes continued success in these Pan Am Games including swimmers Lara Butler and Tori Flowers and those representing the Cayman Islands in other disciplines as well. We know all of Cayman’s athletes at the Pan Am Games will today be walking with just a little more “swagger” today and rightly so!
Congratulations Shaune and Brett. We look forward to welcoming you home soon.
