CIHS spay and neuter programme a great success
From Cayman Islands Humane Society (CIHS)
After the incredible response from the public, and two days of operations on 28 animals, the public Spay and Neuter initiative has been extended to the 29th and 30th May for another 30 animals. Such is the take up of this initiative, those spaces are ALREADY FULL! That will be 58 animals over the four days above the number routinely carried out at the shelter. We are considering further extensions later on, and they will be publicised when they become available.
A huge thank you to Doctor Colin Wakelin and the medical team working at the shelter, and to the staff at the shelter who have managed through the process, as well as their day to day duties and also setting up the latest transfer dogs. We all recognise that this is about the long term benefit in reducing unwanted animals within the Island and the impact that will have on all animal welfare organisations. Whilst we at the CIHS and others also deal day to day with the short term symptoms of over population, this importantly deals with one of the key causes.
Thank you as well to DMS Broadcasting who have dedicated their Garage Sale fundraiser on Saturday 1st June 2013 to the benefit of the spay and neuter program. If you want to book a space there, contact Erin Bodden at [email protected]
The Shelter will have a pitch there, any donations for us to sell, please contact Janette on 925 0408 or [email protected]
Thank you for everyone’s support!
Please see attached flyers for upcoming events.
Then don’t forget our very full cat room and pay a visit. If you are looking for a kitten or an older cat of any description, you can guarantee we’ll have it. To the point of closing the doors, there had been an upsurge in kittens who will all need homes. Space in the cat room remains critical for new admissions.
