CIREBA spreads Christmas cheer!

Jeanette Totten and Kerri Kanuga

CIREBA, The Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association, continued their Christmas tradition of giving back to the community and supporting local charities.
This year, they decided to do this with a creative twist, in addition to the traditional way of donating cash or cheques – CIREBA held a non-perishable food drive at their Annual Christmas Party for Meals on Wheels.
Kerri Kanuga organized the drive, with the assistance of Donna Sjostrom and Jeanette Totten.
Kerri, an active community volunteer and volunteers with Meals on Wheels regularly. She is one of many that deliver just some of the approximately 1,350 meals that are needed each week
in Cayman.
Jeanette Totten, President of CIREBA explained, “Meals on Wheels does so much more than just feed a person.  They provide compassion; they give dignity back to people…they care.”
Donna Sjostrom, Manager of CIREBA said: “The agents were all very receptive of giving to the cause.  Just about everyone brought something to the party to donate.  It is something that I can see us continuing in the future and it would be a great Annual Tradition.”
Kerri, working on the front line sees this take place, “Volunteering with Meals on Wheels has given me a new perspective. I have made new friendships and while the people that we deliver food to appreciate what we do for them, I appreciate them as well.”
CIREBA supports many of the community’s volunteer organizations and not-for-profits throughout the year.  For information on CIREBA, visit www.cireba.com.
Meals on Wheels needs additional volunteers, especially in West Bay and in Northside, where there are approximately 100 persons in need of home deliveries.
