Clifford Law Associates opens its doors

Clifford Law Associates (CLA) has officially opened it’s doors and commenced operations from  the 5th floor of the Genesis Building on Genesis Close off Dr. Roy’s Drive in central George Town.

CLA is a civil and criminal litigation practice which is owned and managed by Charles Clifford, former Minister of Tourism, Environment, Investment and Commerce.

Mr. Clifford, in announcing the opening of his law practice remarked, “Our mission is to provide professional and affordable legal services to our clients in a timely, efficient and effective manner on matters relating to Cayman Islands Law.” He continued, “We will shortly announce on CLA’s website our association with other eminent legal practitioners in the Cayman Islands, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.”

Although CLA is a general litigation practice, it will focus on the following areas: –

Civil Litigation :

  • Personal Injury and Wrongful Death;
  • Debt Recovery;
  • Contract Law;
  • Breach of Trusts;
  • Constitutional and Administrative Law; and
  • Employment Law

Matrimonial and Family Law

  • Divorce Petitions; and
  • Custody, Visitation and other ancillary matters.

Criminal Litigation

  • All criminal offences; and
  • Serious traffic offences

Non Litigation Services

CLA is also pleased to offer the following Non Litigation Services :

  • Compliance Services for small and medium sized companies; and
  • Land Transfers, Registration of Charges and Real Estate Closings.

Mr. Clifford’s 29 years in public service in such roles as Chief Inspector of Police, Police Prosecutor, Permanent Secretary and Minister of Government will serve him well as a litigator and leader of CLA. In that regard, Mr. Clifford commented “I am most grateful for the opportunities for public service which my country has afforded me. I have always sought excellence in everything I have done in life and I will bring that same level of commitment to my practice.”

Mr. Clifford continued, “I see my legal practice as yet another platform, similar to public service, where there will be many opportunities to help people, from different stations in life, to right the wrongs which they have suffered.”
