Climate talks: EPP Group stresses need for EU and global action
Some 200 countries are in Madrid for a major United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) meeting to discuss how to tackle climate change.
At the centre of discussions is the Paris Agreement, which sets out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C.
Peter Liese, an EPP Group spokesperson for the environment, stresses the importance of the EU remaining ambitious but also the need for the world as a whole to act.
