Coco-plum tree for NA’s Foster Home.

There was another tree planting ceremony on Wednesday (18) by The Garden Club of Grand Cayman. This time (the first was at The Pines new facility) it was outside The Nadine Andreas Residential Foster Home near the George Town Hospital.

ROBERT BENNETT PLANTING COCO-PLUM

Robert Bennett, President of the Garden Club, was again on hand to plant the tree, this time a Chrysobalanus Icaco, known to us as a Coco-plum, and a native tree to the Cayman Islands.

Mr. Bennett said he and his members come regularly to the site, “at least once a week”, to tend to the gardens. He pointed out the rockery garden the Club had put in and said they had managed to obtain a lot of plants through donations and others “at a good price”.

Another plant he was very enthusiastic about was a white Puya, which he said was unusual and rare.
