Concacaf President Montagliani pledges support to member associations during visit to Bahamas
NASSAU, Bahamas – In continuation of the ONE Concacaf Vision – which focuses on promoting the unity of the Confederation, while providing access to play the game in meaningful and sustainable ways across the region – Concacaf President Victor Montagliani pledged continued support to the Confederation’s Member Associations during a visit to the Bahamas.
Montagliani enjoyed a two-day visit to the island, where he met with several local football and political leaders, including the Bahamas Football Association President (BFA) President Anton Sealey.
“Bahamas is a great hub to continue developing football in Concacaf,” said Montagliani. “I am very pleased with the efforts to advance the game as well as the interest of the BFA and government officials to support the growth at all levels through infrastructure projects, grassroots programs and serving as host of major competitions like our Concacaf Nations League.”
The Concacaf chief also had the opportunity to meet the Bahamas Minister of Tourism Dionisio D’Aguilar about future potential football-based partnerships in order to draw more visitors to the country.
Also on the docket for Montagliani was a visit to the impressive Thomas Robinson Stadium, which will host the Bahamas National Team’s first home match in 2019/20 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying on October 12, 2018 versus Antigua and Barbuda.
Montagliani also met the Bahamas Ministry of Sports and Culture, where the Concacaf President discussed the importance of Concacaf’s Next Play grassroots program, which encourages more primary school age children to get involved with the sport.
Accompanied by BFA members, Montagliani’s visit to Bahamas concluded with a meeting with Ministry of Lands and Public Works Minister Desmond Bannister, where Montagliani backed the Minister’s initiative of improving current and building new green spaces for families, plus lighting for parks to create safer environments.
