WASHINGTON, DC (September 24, 2014) – The Caribbean’s newest medical facility was the subject of much interest at the World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress held in the Washington, DC area this week.

At the Caribbean and Island Ministerial Summit of the conference, the invitation-only audience reviewed an exclusive presentation on Health City Cayman Islands, given by Dr. Chandy Abraham, Facility Director and Head of Medical Services.

Referring to the Narayana Health principles that guide Health City Cayman Islands, Dr. Abraham said “a solution is not a solution unless it is affordable.”

Dr. Abraham, who in addition to being a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in England is also a graduate in “Lean Management” from Cardiff University, Wales, told the summit attendees “quality and affordability are not mutually exclusive when it comes to healthcare delivery.”

Cost effective pricing, he asserted, can be realized through operating efficiencies, lean management and process engineering and leveraging technologies such as iKare and decision making algorithms.

He shared that Health City Cayman Islands recruits medical staff with a wealth of experience as well as breadth and depth in practice and encourages them to innovate and conserve for added efficiencies which enable the facility to provide inclusive, transparent, pricing. “We offer our patients a single price, there are no charges added later,” he promised.

Representatives from Caribbean states heard that the commitment to creating a globally-benchmarked, quality-driven healthcare services model is key to Health City being “a leader and innovator in providing world-class, affordable, care in a compassionate, caring environment.”

Envisioned by Narayana Health’s storied Dr. Devi Shetty, a philanthropist and personal physician of the late Mother Teresa, Health City Cayman Islands opened its doors in February 2014.
