Continued recognition for Mourant Caribbean practices
Mourant practices in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands have been recognised in the latest edition of the Legal 500 2019 rankings for their “extensive multi-disciplinary and offshore legal expertise” acting on high profile and complex transactions and cases.
In the Cayman Islands, the firm’s tier one dispute resolution practice has been praised for being “‘extremely responsive” with sources saying that the team “delivers solid and reliable opinions and provides good value”. Lawyers were described as being “exceptional” with “impressive analytical and writing skills and deep knowledge and understanding of commercial law issues.” The Cayman Corporate & Commercial, Investment Funds and Banking, Finance & Capital Markets teams were ranked tier two and received praise for response times and providing “short, practical” advice. Having a “business mindset” sets lawyers apart.
Cayman Islands Managing Partner, Hayden Isbister, said: “2018 has been a standout year for us. Along with a major rebrand, we’ve played a key role in many of the most high-profile deals and cases in the offshore market. It’s great to once again see the hard work and dedication of our people recognised in this way.”
The firm’s BVI teams maintained their tier 3 rankings across the board for Banking, Finance & Capital Markets, Corporate & Commercial and Dispute Resolution, while the Cayman Islands office also held its rankings across all practice areas, with a top tier ranking in Dispute Resolution and tier 2 rankings for Corporate & Commercial, Investment Funds and Banking, Finance & Capital Markets, with sources praising the firm’s lawyers for delivering “a level of service that is superb.”
BVI Managing Partner, Rachael McDonald, said: “The Legal 500 rankings follow comprehensive independent market research, and highlight the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting-edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel. This recognition for our people, and the work we undertake for our clients, is very important to us.”
Across both offices 21 lawyers we recognized for their work in their respective fields. With Eleanor Morgan (BVI), Hayden Isbister, Hector Robinson QC, Neal Lomax and Peter Hayden all ranked as ‘Leading Individuals.’
