Conyers Dill & Pearman strengthens Cayman Islands practice
Conyers Dill & Pearman (“Conyers”), a leading offshore law firm, today announced it has added two lawyers to its Cayman Islands office, with Matthew Stocker and Richard Fear joining as Counsel. Matthew Stocker returns to the Cayman Islands, having most recently practised at the Hong Kong office of another offshore firm, while Richard Fear returns to the Cayman Islands after practising in Conyers’ London office since 2007.
“It is a pleasure to welcome both Matthew and Richard to our growing team,” said Kevin Butler, Head of Conyers’ Cayman Islands office. “Their extensive experience in providing Cayman legal advice to major financial institutions and multinationals further enhances our corporate expertise in the jurisdiction.”
Matthew has over 18 years’ experience advising on a wide range of corporate and financial matters. He has significant expertise in debt financing transactions, investment funds (both hedge and private equity) and general corporate work (including IPOs and mergers and acquisitions). In addition, Matthew’s aircraft and ship finance and registration experience will be a valuable asset to the Firm. Matthew was previously a partner at another offshore firm, working in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong.
Richard is an accomplished lawyer whose practice covers a broad range of corporate, finance and funds work, with a particular focus on corporate finance transactions, stock exchange listings, investment funds, structured finance and corporate reorganisations. Prior to practising in Conyers’ London office, Richard was a partner of another Cayman firm. He also brings a commercial approach to transactions having previously served as managing director of the Cayman subsidiary of a London merchant bank and as a chartered accountant.
These key additions underscore Conyers’ continued commitment to growth and client service. Last year the Firm welcomed a number of professionals to its practice, further strengthening its strong complement of legal professionals advising on the laws of Bermuda, BVI, Cayman and Mauritius. Conyers represents many FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies, and is globally recognised for the depth and breadth of its corporate and private client teams.
