Costa Rica to represent Central America and the Caribbean at investment promotion agencies grouping
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Costa Rica will be the representative of the investment agencies of Central America and the Caribbean before the world’s most important grouping of such organizations. The Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas de Desarrollo (CINDE – ‘Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency’), was elected in Dubai as a member of the executive committee of WAIPA, an association comprised of more than 170 investment promotion agencies, multilateral agencies, think tanks, consultants and universities representing 130 countries.
For Jorge Sequeira, managing director of CINDE, “to be elected to this committee is in part recognition of the excellent work that Costa Rica, represented by CINDE, has managed to perform over the years, and that has led us to be recognized as an organization with good practices and an innovative approach to attracting investment.”
CINDE’s appointment to this committee was made during the 22nd WAIPA World Investment Conference in Dubai, whose central theme this year focused on policies and strategies to attract investment in the light of new future challenges, sharing best practices to attract investment and skills to be developed in this regard.
Sequeira added that assuming this post on the WAIPA executive committee will help to showcase CINDE’s work as an investment agency, and maintain its position of prestige and leadership among the world’s various promotion agencies, which translates into better referrals to companies seeking professional help in their decision-making processes to bring foreign investment directly into new countries.
WAIPA is an organization focused on promoting and sharing the best operating practices among the world’s investment promotion agencies, as well as promoting enhanced capacities of human talent among member agencies.
