Country Star Trace Adkins checks into rehab after cruise ship brawl with impersonator [Ship calling in Cayman]
Country singer Trace Adkins has checked himself into a rehab facility after reportedly getting into a physical fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator on a cruise ship. The singer, who in 2001 went to rehab for alcoholism, has reportedly fallen off the wagon, according to a statement his publicist made to People on Wednesday.
“Trace has entered a treatment facility after a setback in his battle with alcoholism,” his publicist said.
Trace, who had been headlining a country-music-themed cruise to Jamaica, reportedly became angry after watching an impersonator’s Trace Adkins act in a cruise ship bar on Monday. Eventually, the men got into an argument, which resulted in a physical altercation, according to TMZ. After the incident, Trace reportedly left the cruise ship and checked into a rehab facility.
The 52 year-old singer is the most recent winner of The Celebrity Apprentice all-star edition.
It is not known at this time how long he will stay in rehab, but he is scheduled to headline another Country Cruise that is set to embark from Miami on January 19. Other entertainers that were on the cruise ship at the time included Lonestar, Montgomery Gentry and Wynonna Judd.
He is just the latest musician to head to rehab. Earlier this month, singer Ke$ha also entered a treatment center, to deal with her eating disorder.
