Court appearances for burglars today (Thu 20)

On on Tuesday 18th November 2014 a 50 year old male resident of West Bay was arrested and charged for burglary and drug offences. He will appear in court later today.

He was arrested and charged in connection with a burglary at Caribbean Bakery in West Bay which occurred on Thursday 13th November 2014. Stolen during the incident was a number of food items.

A 55 year old male resident of George Town will also appear in court this morning charged in connection to the burglary which occurred at a Mini Warehouse in the Industrial Park between Sunday 16th and Monday 17th November 2014. A large quantity of alcohol was stolen during this incident.

Investigations into this burglary and other similar type offences are ongoing and the RCIPS reminds people that it is an offence to receive any goods which they believe may be stolen. If approached you should contact the police immediately.

18 Cuban migrants arrive in Cayman Brac -UPDATED

Three out of 18 Cuban migrants, who arrived in Cayman Brac waters yesterday morning (Wednesday, 19 November 2014), got off on Little Cayman today.

The two men and one woman were transferred to Cayman Brac this afternoon and the remaining 15 continued on their journey towards Central America. One of the two men has been in the Cayman Islands twice before.

The 18 migrants, consisting of 12 men and six women, were travelling in an 18-ft, wood and metal vessel equipped with an engine.

18 Cuban migrants arrived in Cayman Brac on Wednesday (19) comprising 12 men and 6 women. Immigration officials met the migrants and the officials are making an assessment to see if the boat is seaworthy for the migrants to continue their journey.

Immigration officials confirmed one of the Cubans aboard the vessel has travelled here twice before on makeshift craft.
