Court of Appeal dismisses Jeffers’ appeal

Raziel Jeffers lost his appeal against his conviction for the murder of Marcus Ebanks and the attempted murder of several other young men.

The reasons for not allowing the appeal and upholding the murder conviction were not given because of references to a confidential police intelligence report.

The court said that it would allow an application by Jeffers’ lawyer to make to them to hear a third ground of a police report dealing with gunshot residue.

The Court of Appeal gave Defence Counsel, Richard Barton, until Wednesday 28) to make a formal application on the new grounds, which, if successful, would be heard before the end of this appeal session.
