Creative Tech donates Dell monitors to Savannah Primary

Dell Computer Donation (2)Savannah Primary students are set to benefit from a donation of ten new Dell monitors by Creative Tech’s Corporate Solutions Department.

On Thursday, 12 December 2013, Creative Tech’s Mario Barrett and Chris Upstone, accompanied by Dell’s Americas International Territory Manager, Ms Christine Chan-Waiy delivered the monitors to the school.

The new Dell monitors will be divided among multiple classrooms allowing students more computer time.

Acting Deputy Principal Elroy Bryan, Ministry of Education ICT Manager Steven Durksen and students were on hand to receive the new hardware.

Commenting on the use of technology in the classroom, Mr Durksen states:“Creative Tech’s generous donation helps to supplement the existing ICT resources in the school.  Any opportunity for more students to access these resources helps to prepare them for the real world.”

Explaining why Creative Tech decided to assist the school, Mario Barrett says: “We’re in the business of technology because it’s our passion, and what better way to share that passion than to ensure young students have accessibility to technology.”

His colleague Chris Upstone adds: “It’s important to introduce and use technology in the classroom as early as possible; this is a way we can help the existing resources reach more students.”

Savannah Primary School is the second largest primary school in the Cayman Islands, and an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) world school.   As an IB school, the education programme focuses on the holistic development of the child as an inquirer both inside the classroom and in the outside world.

“One of our objectives of being an IB school is to develop global learners who are creative and willing to inquire,“ said Elroy Bryan, “this donation will help to support this aim, and for that we and our students are very grateful.”
