Cry in the Night goes International
Local playwright’s Cry to be heard in UK
Local playwright and Editor-in-Chief of iNews Cayman, Colin Wilson, has another of his plays that was first performed by the Cayman Drama Society, going International.
First performed in 1987 at The Harquail Theatre under the title “Girl in a Wheelchair” the play was retitled “Cry in the Night” and performed at The Prospect Playhouse in 1999.
The play is to be performed by the St Bernadette’s Players at St Bernadette’s Catholic Church Hall from October 30th to 2nd November. The hall holds 300 persons.
The play has been published by the UK publishers New Theatre Publications.
Synopsis: A young woman (Christine), now a paraplegic after an automobile accident, returns to her wealthy father’s home on a remote island in the Caribbean to recuperate. Her father has remarried and she meets her new mother, sister and brother, but her father has mysteriously disappeared. A doctor and ‘close friend’ of her father’s arrives to inform her that he has known her since her birth. She, however, has no recollection of him and she notices a strong intimacy between this doctor and her stepmother. The she hears ‘cries in the night’ that lead to the play’s terrifying climax and surprise ending.
