UPDATE #2: Wounding in BT from domestic incident

Police confirms that the female involved in the domestic assault has been air lifted off island yesterday for further medical treatment. The suspect remains in hospital in stable condition.

Further to our previous press release yesterday please note the following:

The 53 year old female victim in yesterday’s violent domestic assault which resulted in serious injuries, remains in a critical but stable condition. It is likely that she will be stable enough to be airlifted off island for vital medical treatment later today.

The suspect has who was arrested shortly after the incident is in stable condition and remains in police custody while the investigation continues.

Police have now arrested a 42 male in relation to the incident. A further update will sent in the morning.

Police are on the scene of a wounding in Bodden Town where a woman has been allegedly injured with a machete.

Further arrest for Coral isle Bar Burglary, Cayman Brac

Following on from extensive investigations by the Cayman Brac Police into the Burglary at Coral Isle Bar on the 29th July 2014 a twenty year old male was arrested today on Suspicion of Burglary/Handling Stolen Goods.

He is presently in police custody.

Chief Inspector Owens said, “THE FURTHUR POSITIVE ACTIONS IN THIS MATTER WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY THE COMMUNITY,WHICH REITERATES WHAT I HAVE SAID PREVIOUSLY AND SHOWS THE COMMUNITY THAT ANY ASSISTANCE WILL BE TREATED WITH UTMOST CONFIDENTIALITY”.

CUC apologises for latest power outages

Lighting strikes and equipment damage were the cause of power outages over the weekend and this morning (11)On Friday August 8th there was equipment damage to a pole on West Bay road. Electricity to the area was lost at 3:48 pm and all customers were restored at 6:15 pm.

On Saturday, August 9th, there was an outage in the area of the Deckers restaurant which resulted in the loss of power at 9:45 pm. After the trailing of lines and repairs to the line were completed, power was restored to customers at 1:33 am.

On Monday, August 11th, a lightning strike in the Grand Harbour area resulted in an outage. Parts of Shedden Road and Smith Road were also affected. Power has now been restored to the all customers.

CUC’s protection systems operated as they are designed to after the lightning strikes to isolate the area of outage safely until repairs could be performed.

CUC sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to customers affected by these outages.
