CUC offices closed today (Tue) because of TS Earl from 1:30pm
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) wishes to advise its customers that its hurricane preparation plan has been initiated in anticipation of the possible effects of Tropical Storm Earl.
As a result CUC’s payment offices at the Caribbean Plaza and the Administration building on North Sound Road will be closed this afternoon at 1:30pm. These offices will remain closed until further notice.
If the island is affected by the storm, CUC will continue to supply power as long as it is safe to do so. However, if:
o there is significant damage to our transmission and distribution system;
o it becomes unsafe for our staff to maintain operations at our North Sound generation facility; or
o we need to take action to preserve our equipment, it will be necessary to shut down our service for the duration of the storm and possibly until repairs are completed.
While CUC’s service infrastructure is designed to withstand winds of over 100 MPH, tree limbs or other debris that may come in contact with lines and other equipment may cause localized outages or equipment damage at lower wind speeds. As a result, customers should be prepared for outages. If there is an outage, please call the CUC hotline at 945-1282.
