CUC Primary Football League Week 2 Review Talent on show in primary school football leagues

As with most local youth sports, the talent is ever present in the primary schools and this past Saturday, September 30 was no exception as the second week of games concluded in the 2023 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and the Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL).
From the results so far, Cayman Prep 11A remains the team to beat in the Under 11 division and in the Under 9 division, it seems to be wide open with a number of schools staking their claim for the prestigious title.
Group A in the Under 9 division is very competitive this year and Cayman International School’s (CIS) youngsters are setting the pace so far. In week 1, CIS blanked Cayman Prep 9B 4-0 (respect rule) and this past Saturday, George Town Primary were the unfortunate victims although to their credit, George Town put up a determined fight and managed to score two goals in a 6-2 loss.
In other Group A Under 9 games, Island Primary recorded their first victory as a new school in the league defeating Cayman Prep 9B 3-2 and Sir John A. Cumber downed St. Ignatius Catholic 1-0.
In Group A Under 11 games, CIS got past George Town Primary 5-2 in a thrilling encounter, Cayman Prep 11B beat Island Primary 4-0 (respect rule), St. Ignatius Catholic defeated Sir John A. Cumber 4-0 and Cayman Prep 11C got the better of Joanna Clarke Primary 4-0 (respect rule).
In Group B Under 9 games, Red Bay Primary blanked Small Schools 4-0 (respect rule) and defending champions Cayman Prep 9A opened their season with a convincing 4-0 win over Prospect Primary.
In the Group B Under 11 division, defending champions Cayman Prep 11A beat Prospect Primary 4-0 (respect rule) and Cayman Brac downed NorthEast Schools 4-1.
In the GPFL division, St. Ignatius Catholic beat Joanna Clarke Primary 4-0 (respect rule), CIS defeated George Town Primary 4-0 and Sir John A. Cumber Primary got past Red Bay Primary 4-0.
Supporters of the beautiful game are encouraged to head out to the various sports facilities and school fields and show their support for these Under 9 and Under 11 athletes as they compete for school pride and the coveted CUC PFL and CUC GPFL titles.
Games scheduled for this Saturday, October 7 will be played at the Annex Field, Camana Bay SC, West Bay Town Hall Field, Prospect Primary, St. Ignatius and Red Bay Primary.
