CUC’s employees bring their children to work
Employees at Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) got the chance to share their work day with their children during the Easter Holiday break.
It was the Company’s first “Sons and Daughters to Work Day” and is part of CUC’s commitment to create a caring, family-friendly culture.
In the Financial Services department Renee, daughter of Barbara Aiken-Moseley saw how her mother keeps her financial reports and records properly filed. Reflecting on her daughter’s experience, Barbara said, “Renee enjoyed her day so much, she wanted to return the next day.”
The event was spearheaded by the Human Resources department. Manager Phil Jackson stated, “The programme provided the opportunity for parents to bring their children to CUC for a day of fun and educational activities. We wanted to expose our children to what we do on a daily basis and teach them from an early age how they can acquire the skills needed to take them into the world of work. But it was not all work. The children received and welcomed a surprise visit from Sparky.”
Kelsi, the daughter of Ravi Persad, Manager, Internal Audit & Risk Management noted that, “The CUC take your child to work day was a very good idea. The persons who supervised us were very friendly and educated us on the power plant by showing us a very informative video and then explaining it to us after. I had fun with the other children. “
In the Electrical Maintenance department, Chad Powell showed his son, Chad Jr, and daughter, Aaliyah, what his role entails as a Senior Supervisor/ Scheduler. Chad Jr. enjoyed his experience of learning about the scheduling of operations, and Aaliyah said, “I really liked it. I learnt a lot and had plenty of fun. I hope
that we may be able to have this experience again.”
The Sons and Daughters at Work programme, catered to children between the ages of 8 and 15. It will now become an annual event and will be coordinated around the Easter holidays.
