Dalkeith Bothwell to run for PPM in West Bay
The Progressives (the People’s Progressive Movement – PPM) announced last Saturday (23) that Dalkeith Bothwell would be running on their ticket as the fourth man. He joins the other thee West Bay PPM candidates, Woody Da Costa, Ray Farrington and Captain Bryan Ebanks.
Never before has the PPM contested “Fortress McKeeva” as PPM leader, Alden McLaughlin, called the West Bay District.
The PPM conference on Saturday was a very up beat affair with 400-500 persons present and there is a feeling that the tide is turning in their direction.
Bothwell is a popular figure in West Bay. He has been a member of the PPM since its inception and he was the person behind the establishment of their very first West Bay branch office.
Bothwell ran as a candidate in the 2005 election with the West Bay Alliance, a group of candidates associated with the PPM but did not succeed. He did not run in 2009.
The very well respected Norman Bodden, who was a cabinet member, a first elected Legislative Assembly member and was an MLA for twelve years endorsed the PPM and encouraged everyone present to use their democratic right and vote at this year’s election.
In 2009 Mr. Bodden endorsed United Democratic Party MLA, Mike Adam, who ran for George Town.
