Buccaneers make it 3 in row

The DART Alex Alexander Memorial Trophy competition continued on 17 January and the Advance Fire & Plumbing Buccaneers secured their position on top of the league table with a 10 point win over the John Doak Architecture Iguanas.

The Iguanas had a chance to draw first blood but the penalty kick was sent wide. The Buccaneers soon responded with a penalty of their own before the Iguanas found the try line to make the score 7-3. The Buccaneers secured another kickable penalty to make it a 1 point game before taking the lead thanks to a Joel Clark try and never looking back.

The Iguanas did keep it a tight contest with a further try from-fly half Daniel O’Connor but a final minute try from the Buccaneers robbed the Iguanas of a chance to secure a bonus point loss.

The 2nd game of the day was yet another nail biter between the Queensgate Pigs Trotters and the Fidelity Cayman Storm with the Pigs Trotters edging the Cayman Storm by a slim 7 point margin.

The Pigs Trotters looked to be in control for large parts of the game with Justin Wight barging his way through the Storm Back line. Indeed by the end of the 3rd quarter most would have thought the Pigs Trotters were going to march away comfortable winners but a 4th quarter comeback from the Storm secured a losing bonus point. In the end it was to be an opportune try from Pigs Trotter fly half Shaun McDermott to separate the two teams.

The win for the Pigs Trotter, their second of the season, sees them jumps to 2nd place in the standings with the Cayman Storm dropping to 3rd place after their 2nd loss in a row.
