DCI launches Entrepreneurship Day
To recognise the ingenuity of entrepreneurs in the Cayman Islands, the Department of Commerce and Investment (DCI) will launch Cayman Entrepreneurship Day (CED) on Thursday, 11 April 2013 at the Family Life Centre.
It will be a daylong free event and open to the public exhibiting Cayman entrepreneurs’ projects and businesses along with technical assistance workshops and face-to-face meetings with accomplished Cayman-based entrepreneurs.
There will also be a platform for budding entrepreneurs to present their products and business ideas to a panel of established business owners, investors and business consultants.
DCI Director Jonathan Piercy said it’s important for Government, through DCI, to create a vibrant economy that encourages small-business growth and sustainability.
“Besides assisting small business owners in building awareness for their own brands, CED also gives them a much-needed time and place to network with each another – and this is a valuable component of the event’, he said. “DCI wants CED to be an incubator for local entrepreneurs to work together in creating new, complementary business opportunities.”
He said the DCI had worked closely with every kind of small business owner, from start-up to the more established, and their passion to build strong businesses helps fuel the local economy.
Booth spaces are now available and Piercy said the DCI was looking for participation from a range of exhibitors including retail, beverage, wellness and beauty businesses, contractors, mechanics, information technology, engineers, consulting, maid and janitorial services, as well as home and garden related eterprizes.
CED organiser Charmaine Moss added that by acknowledging entrepreneurs and business owners, DCI hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams of owning their own businesses. “Imagination and creativity can be harnessed and nurtured to create future business successes,” she said.
The day will end with a cocktail reception and business-networking event, with a presentation made by a successful entrepreneur.
Opportunities are also available for local corporate sponsors. For more information, please contact Charmaine Moss at [email protected]
