DDUH graduate organises mouth cancer awareness day in Cayman Islands
Dr Keelin Fox- Cayman Islands MCADA mouth cancer awareness day was organised on the Cayman Islands by DDUH graduate Dr Keelin Fox.
Keelin trained at the DDUH and following her training she worked as NCHD here. Afterwards she worked with Dr Conor McAllister in general dental practice where she was involved in the organisation of mouth cancer awareness days (MCAD) at the practice. Keelin subsequently moved to work in the Cayman Islands.
In 2015 she organised a MCAD event. Free oral cancer screenings were offered by dentists as part of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society’s education outreach efforts. Seven dental clinics took part in the initiative. Keelin said “The day went very well and 181 individuals turned out for screening. That was a record for the Cayman Islands as the most they had was 180 at a prostate screening day after building it up for 5 years. The Cayman Islands Cancer Society was pleased with the result”.
Keelin was happy with the MCAD and hopes that people will now know a little bit more about mouth cancer.
